TPG TIPS: Cooler Weather Planting

Since most of the heat is behind us, let's get ready for cooler weather planting!


1. Favorite Fall Seasonal color:
A. Petunias Will last until a dark freeze (if we have any this Winter)
B. Crotons Great fall Color
C. Pansy Wait until we are in the 70’s before planting
D. Dianthus
E. Snapdragons Dwarf, up-right and cascading 
F.  Kale and cabbage
G. Bacopa
 
2. Transplant any citrus in the next 6 weeks.
 
3. Fall Veggie Gardening basil, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, also you can plant garlic, celery, lettuce, and spinach.
 
4. Great time to plant your favorite tree they will root in now before the heat comes back.  Be sure and find out what this tree will look like 5 to 10 years .                                   
 
5. If your house needs a freshen up, fall is a good time to get it down!
 
6. Remember to install at least 3” of mulch to all your garden beds.
 
7. Don’t trim your azaleas and camellias in the fall, you will not have a good blooming season, wait until right after blooming season.
